The Heart Behind the Thread: Our History

A Lifelong Connection

The mission of Analane’s Angel Apparel is rooted in a memory from decades ago. When Analane was only five years old, she experienced the profound reality of infant loss when her younger brother passed away just three days after he was born.

That early experience of grief stayed with her, and as she grew, she saw the same heartbreak reflected in the lives of her siblings, other family members, and many close friends. Because infant loss had touched so many people she loved, Analane felt a quiet, persistent call to help. In 2019, when the opportunity to create Angel Apparel (also known as angel gowns) from repurposed wedding dresses finally presented itself, she didn’t just see a sewing project—she saw her purpose.

2019: The Humble Stitch

Analane, with the help of her siblings, nieces, and friends, began by deconstructing cherished wedding gowns and assisted in creating delicate, handcrafted burial garments for infants who never made it home from the hospital. What started as a labor of love at a dining room table quickly became a lifeline for grieving parents, offering dignity, love, and a tangible memory during their darkest hours.

The Power of Community

The mission is fueled by an incredible community of volunteers. Individuals and groups   host crafting events where people from all walks of life gather to lend their hands to this cause. These hands-on gatherings are the heartbeat of our work and include:

2020 – to the Present Time: A Global Reach

As word of the mission spread, it grew far beyond Analane’s local community. Through “Angel Drops”—where angel apparel is delivered directly to NICUs and hospitals—Analane’s Angel Apparel has now reached families in:

Advocacy and Recognition

Analane’s dedication to breaking the silence around infant loss caught the attention of the media and the community alike. Her story has been featured on Good Things Utah and National Public Radio, where she shares the healing power of turning symbols of celebration into garments of grace. In recognition of her service, she was honored with the Mayoral Award from Provo City Mayor Michelle Kaufusi.

2025: A Legacy Defined

To ensure that every family receives these garments at no cost and to expand the organization’s reach even further, Analane’s Angel Apparel officially became an official Utah Non-Profit, that is currently awaiting 501 C 3 Status.

Today, we continue to honor the memory of Analane’s brother and the many “angel children” of our friends and family. We sew so that no parent has to walk the path of loss alone.
